Fire Protection System Impairment

The Health Care Protection Program (HCPP) supports clients in minimizing risks to their assets through several measures; one of which is the Fire Protection System Impairment Notice.

In line with standard commercial insurance practices, all impairments to fire protection systems must be reported in advance (if known), or as soon as they are discovered. As a condition of coverage under the HCPP Property Agreement, Health Care Agencies (HCAs) are required to report any known interruption, defect, or flaw within 48 hours in any of the following systems:

  • Sprinkler or other fire suppression systems

  • Fire detection or intrusion systems

The purpose of the Fire/Security Protection Impairment Notice is to ensure increased vigilance during system impairments. By requiring written notification, HCPP helps ensure those responsible for the system take proper loss prevention steps and restore functionality as quickly and safely as possible.

HCAs can notify HCPP directly of protection system impairment in one of two ways:

  • By completing the Fire Protection/Security System Impairment Notice found above and clicking "submit" on the form.

  • By printing and completing the Fire Protection/Security System Impairment Notice and sending directly by email: optapreciseriskregister@verisk.com.
